Todo el power.

Hi all! For those that have been reading my past entry, you'll know that I had my second interview already. I was definitely caught off guard because I thought it was going to be a one on one deal, but it turned out to be almost 30 people competing for maybe seven or ten spots. I was disappointed because I usually fail the group interviews because people have more experience than me. Once everyone got settled in, we were told to take notes on the job at hand including the four training phases we'd be going through. Once we were done, the guy giving the lecture said we were going to be divided into two and one group would be told no and the other yes. The first group got called out of the main office we were in, and only a select few stayed. I was already upset that not only did I maybe seem overdressed compared to just about everyone there, but that also I wasn't called. After that, the lecturer not only said this was similar to American Idol because of the tension and the cuts but then asked if we wanted the bad or good news first. Everyone opted for the bad news and we got told that we wouldn't be able to work as of right now because we were all attending the training to get started on Monday!

That's how I was dressed for the second interview and I had my Rilakkuma notebook ready too. I tried to make my hair as Gyaru-like as I could with the curls and side swept. I saw it in a magazine once and just have done the same style since. I honestly felt like one of those mobsters or high-profile politicians for a second there, that it, until I started walking outside in heels and realized that I forgot how to properly walk in them. While everything is pretty much professional and... boring, I made sure to bring something of myself to the table, so the top I'm wearing is actually from Forever 21.

I also have a certain resolution: If this job goes the way I plan it and I really don't end up selling jack shit but end up overseeing 30+ employees and whatever, I have to force myself to dress in Mode style. Why? I think it's the easiest way to dress Gyaru in a professional setting like the one I'm to be in. Granted, I want to get into more Onee styles too, so I guess this is a good push in the right direction, but maybe that push is rushing me XD jeez... Overall, I know I can get away with dressing Mode in the office, so at least I'm a tad closer to dressing Gyaru 24/7.

By the way, thank you everyone who commented on the last entry and sent me positive vibes! ^-^ I appreciate it so much~ m(_ _)m

The good, the bad, and the thoughts.

There are so many things going on, I just feel like I'm neglecting this journal =[. On the bright side though, the delays are for a very good reason: I'm looking for a new and better job. Rei is in Japan and since then I decided to take the time to look for a new job. I'm done with my new one... I hate it so much and I'm at my breaking point. Management is bullshit, the pay is miserable, and I can do so much more being in a company where better and more opportunities are provided for me.

I was reading a few entries on my blogroll about older gals slowly getting out of Gyaru because of time management and also possibly lack of interest. I've read mainly about Gyaru now-a-days losing their confidence as well. I know I'm still new to Gyaru... But being twenty two years old, knowing no one else in my city really likes the fashion or lifestyle; it's difficult. Managing to work and study and really not have any play time. I get it. I really do. I've been there. Being a part-time Gyaru... I know it doesn't make you one. But what are you supposed to do when you have full time work at a job that requires you to be and look serious, with little room for any customization? What are you supposed to do when the percentage for rape and assault is higher, and even going into your school in your city? My understanding of Gyaru is to be yourself. Yes, there is a fashion to it... But if you know you're doing what you can without losing your job or making your grades hurt at school, isn't that enough? I was actually talking about this to my manager about the uniforms and the... monotony of working there. She had mentioned that there was always a space where you could customize things to your own, and add a few things here and there to stand out. I agree with that. Then again, this is just my opinion. I do all I can to dress and improve in Gyaru, really. Ignore my ramblings XD.

Anyway, back to delays. I was looking at my past entries and was looking at how to do the DIY I mentioned. I found so many useful websites thanks to Stumbleupon but haven't had the time or money to start the projects yet. I don't want to be thought of as the blogger that says something but does the other, so I really am trying here XD It's just another delay until I get a better job or until I get less hours.

I've also been thinking about making a portfolio to hold all my creations, and even one for cosmetology. I want to be taken serious in the industry and want to prove it to myself that I can actually follow through with something that interests me instead of staying clueless about it. I've yet to come up with a name but I know what I want to include. I also keep yearning to know more people in Seattle from Mexico City... I know that probably won't ever happen unless I go back to Mexico but it's a nice thought.

Please send all positive thoughts to me! I definitely need it to ace that second interview for manager position :3 I promise to come back with more ~ Thank you for those that are following me <3

Our Anniversary.

Hi everyone! Sorry for not blogging, Tim was here to visit me for our one year anniversary and just left a few hours ago back to Arizona. I'm a bit happy since I'm having mixed feelings (I miss him, but I'm really frustrated at him for not being able to understand me or my family), so I'm okay to blog without being an emotional wreck. There's not a lot to blog about since I dressed down for the most part.  I'm lucky to have a supportive hubby that involves himself in what I'm interested in:

He loves my Gilfy top that Mitsu sent me.
He supports me (emotionally) in my Gyaru journey.
He watches J-dramas with me even if he hates having to read subtitles.
He takes purikura with me and doesn't whine when I go overboard.

Here are a few purikura we took, even one where you can see my outfit. I didn't wear lashes on our anniversary but I did do my makeup differently! I'm very proud of it.... I usually use only one shade for my eyes but I've been doing more with gradients and different shades :3

I hope everyone has been doing well, and also, thank you to my new followers for your lovely comments on the last magazine post!

Kera 07.11 + Freebies!

*Personal Note: Holy.... I never thought I would see a Kera cover or model in such spring/pastel colors. It kind of frightens me, to be honest! Not to mention I find these accessories to be a bit Scene Queen-like. Let's hope Kera delivers in this issue.

My first love in Japanese Fashion was Harajuku fashion, or Ura-Kei. It was different, it had no rules. The street snaps were of people that a normal person would think, "Where'd they find this? In a trashcan?!" or "Wow, I can't believe this style isn't considered in my country!" --I'm probably giving too much credit to a random person on the second thought, but that was my train of thought when I saw the street snaps. Monomania offers the Harajuku style, with select items that could be easily incorporated into an edgy Gyaru style.

After browsing the top picks in Kera's beginning pages, I stumbled across a shop called Too Much. It's part of another shop or chain called New Territory. The actual Too Much shop's bows reminded me of some that I believe were made by Mie for a DIAMOND event back in 2010. *I'm sorry if this isn't accurate T__T* Anyway, I chose three shops and three items I just loved. You can find the actual website here.

The following is a brand I've been pretty curious about. Re:No definitely represents the brand a lot throughout the different issues of Kera, and I never really got the idea to check out the shop until now. To my surprise, Akira also represents this store. Hypercore is another one of the many alternative fashion stores in Harajuku for both men and women.

Now that we know what the hype is about, it's no wonder that Kera is spamming its pages with Hypercore gear. For more coordinates and their web shop, please visit this link.
Kera has finally jumped the trend bandwagon by incorporating the Retro boom into this July 2011's issue. I'm not sure whether I should be happy or sad. I always thought that the Retro boom wouldn't exactly fit the rocker/edgy styles as shown in Kera, and I think it sort of proves it in this issue. I understand that Kera has to try to maintain the look that the magazine has for its models, but seeing them in Retro style is a bit... concerning. While the first picture is a tad decent, it loses its effect and is something that I could picture in Jelly magazine. The second outfit... I like it but there's no way that screams retro with the exception of the almost subtle accessories. The button is 90's, the bowtie is 70's, the lace is 80's... But it's still a bit of a mess. What do you think of Kera's Retro Style attempt?

Anyway, there are a few more shops I really like but for the sake of time and blogging space, I won't go into much detail. Here are the links if you'd like to check them out!
I had to mentions this; Superlovers has some cute desktop downloads available! Please check them out if interested here! I also had to point out that there is a store in London if interested in this style. I think maybe shipping from London to U.S. is a bit easier so I'm hoping to make a purchase very soon!

HELLCATPUNKS also is available in the U.S. through their Los Angeles branch~

Malkomalka is represented by Takeru from SUG. I'm pretty sure there are limited items on the SUG brand, and they have women's, men's and unisex clothing as well as a few accessories.

In my own opinion, Re:No is the queen at mixing brands and styles together to make them her own. I love that about her. When I saw her two top picks I noticed the Gyaru brand GLAD NEWS as well as an unknown (until now for me) called NUDE N' RUDE. Being a fan of Re:No, I had to check what this store was about and ended up stumbling across a great blogger in the process. LA CARMINA is a blogger that talks about Japanese fashion. It turns out that she had made a blog post about this shop in particular back in 2010; you can read it here. You can also read the shop's blog here.

Nautical on Etsy
I'm choosing Ballyhoo Jewelry as one of the places to get Nautical items because it's also Rockabilly style. I mentioned it in a past post, that if I could combine Rockabilly/Psychobilly and Gyaru, I would. Here are a few items I really like.
I'm a sucker for charms, and JellyBellyJewellery has that. There are a bunch of cute nautical charm bracelets there that would work with the style. Here are just a few of them.
This shop is actually quite interesting and definitely has a Kera feel to it. What do you think of when you think of the word Nautical? I can think of a few things: anchors, sailors, tattoos, boats, anchors, water, stripes... but what about tentacles? Octopus tentacles... aren't they nautical? I think it's a bit on the random and creative side, and if you're looking for new earrings, why not try these? Here are a couple favorites I like.

Rock N Roll on Etsy
Horror on Etsy
To me, the horror trend is a bit of the Scene Queen/Hardcore phase, so these type of accessories are the ones I can think would be okay.... It really depends on what level you want to take horror into and whether you want it to be goth-like or cute-like.

British on Etsy
Harem Pants on Etsy

Scholar on Etsy

Eighties on Etsy
This would be one of the many, many reasons that I love Kera magazine. I'm a huge Sex Pistols/British Punk fan, and the whole God Save the Queen is a pretty big deal for me XD. I love the variations on the style, and love how a simple graphic t-shirt can look so good with different accessories and clothes. Re:No's look only enforces the fact that I need harem pants in my life.

This will either be really good or really bad depending on how people look at it, I made something very similar to God Save the Queen by using Tsubasa Masuwaka instead. The background is reflected as a "rising sun" for Japan, and the rest is just self explanatory. God Save the Queen is now God Save the Gal. I made both a light and dark version of it to be put on a shirt, which I'll post about later on. Here are the two to choose from ^^b
They're not much but feel free to also use them as a desktop wallpaper! Resolution is 1440x900. I personally don't like Tsubasa too much considering she's too... cutesy to me. That's my own opinion though ^-^ Regardless, this would be fun to alter into a shirt and whatnot! Before I forget, credit for the dark texture goes to this person here. If anyone has requests for maybe using a different person other than Tsubasa for your own shirt please let me know!
!!! Akira's and Re:No's rooms! Both with my favorite colors of all time, it's no wonder I worship love these girls! *w* You know, for their personalities and the way they're displayed in the magazines, I would have thought that Akira be the more simplistic and organized one compared to Re:No. I guess everyone has their surprises ^__^;;

Incoming!!!!

Hi everyone!!!! I just wanted to inform you all that it looks like I'm working on another megapost, this time of Kera (again) XD I don't know what's come over me but there are some DIY including a freebie wallpaper or possible shirt of Tsubasa Masuwaka in a punk style theme! Also, a ton of inexpensive shops of where to get some of the recent trends in Kera if you're into the edgy style, as well as shop information and details! I really hope to hear from everyone on my next post; I'm really excited about it!!!!
